Ottawa, August 22, 2011: It is with deep sadness that the Cement Association of Canada (CAC) has learned the news of New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton’s untimely passing today.

“Jack Layton was a man of great integrity, commitment and courage whose life and work touched so many Canadians,”  said CAC President and CEO Michael McSweeney. “Mr. Layton dedicated his life to public service to the very end, in a way very few of us could. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Olivia, his children and his broader political family as they grieve their loss.”
